Sacred Batik Printing in Ubud

Like meditation in action, the art of Batik centers the mind and liberates the heart through creativity. Explore the simple and exciting process of Batik painting and create a rewarding piece of art to bring home from your travels in Bali.

In this unique workshop your teacher, Ketut Sujana, will help you use this ancient art form to create contemporary designs. Ketut’s gentle and patient instruction helps the student discover in physical form the images that all of us carry in our hearts.

On this walk you will learn about native plants and how the leaves, fruits and flowers of various plants are used for traditional medicine, food and body care products. As you walk through the rice fields, you will also enjoy stories about the rice growing process from planting, maintenance, through to harvesting. You will learn about the importance of preserving the irrigation system and the protocols for its use in the community.

The class will explain the process of making natural products (edible).  You will create four body care products: shampoo, sun protection cream, facemask and traditional healing scrub (boreh).

Countryside Bicycle tour through Bali villages to Ubud

Starting in the small little village of Telamba,  we ride through the ‘valley of oranges’ and Bali’s agriculture heartland. Take the small off-road path into the bamboo forest, where you get a chance to discover the different types of bamboo and their significant importance for the Balinese culture and religion.

Hidden behind lush vegetation stands the ancient Hindu temple from the 10th century. Its uniqueness has called many Balinese and pilgrimages to meditate and show devotion.

Next, we will be invited to the family compound of Ketut in the traditional village of Penempahan. Here, in this relaxed atmosphere where time feels like it comes to a standstill, we will learn about the significance of Bali’s version of feng shui and how the placement and construction of traditional Balinese
 dwellings are determined.

At the UNESCO World Heritage site Tampaksiring we venture into fields of vibrant green and are introduced to the different aspects of rice farming.

The last part of our journey we cruise through beautiful small traditional villages and paddy fields.

Lunch will be served at cafe Agung Rai Museum of Art in the heart of Ubud

This journey offers an insight into a Bali that is not commonly seen, and allows you to experience the charming culture of rural Bali. A fantastic day out packed with education and fun!

As you switch between Class I and II rapids, you will wind through deep valleys with cascading waterfalls and towering cliffs of prehistoric significance.

On the more leisurely stretches through tropical forests you will see Hindu shrines that are brightly decorated on ceremonial days of prayer. Just as you think it is all coming to an end, the unpredictable Ayung River propels your raft into yet another rapid! This wonderful morning is followed by a deliciously prepared local lunch in Bali’s mountain area.

Ancient Sound Healing at the Pyramids of Chi

Our newest Bliss-day offering is The Pyramids of Chi.

Built to the scale of the Giza Pyramids in Egypt, the Pyramids of Chi, are the combination of ancient sounds, sacred design, magnetic positioning and water surrounds, resulting in a rewarding healing & relaxing experience.

Located in Balinese village of Bentuyung, 3 kilometres North from the centre of Ubud. The Pyramids of Chi are floating on water, surrounded by rice fields.  This area was the location of the film “Eat, Pray, Love.”

The two large pyramids of the Moon and Sun are built so you may discover complete relaxation and awareness of inner-self through the ancient sounds inside these healing structures.

Sound healing is known to reduce ‘beta-wave’ brain waves and increase the ‘theta-waves’ within the brain.  This means that the vibrations from the sounds can help boost the immune system, relax the sleeping patterns and put you into deep meditative relaxation.

The frequencies generated from the ancient instruments played in the pyramids, such as the enormous gongs, large pow wow drum, Himalayan bowls or the very emotive didgeridoo have  healing effects and relaxing results. Sound has long been recognised as a method for healing, and is often one of the most successful ways to rebalance and harmonise inner health.
